Representative John McGuire announced on May 21 that he supports the passage of the Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act.
The legislation addresses concerns about what children are being taught in schools, with a focus on parental rights and curriculum transparency.
“Parents have every right to know what their children are being taught in school, and that should not include radical gender ideology,” said Rep. John McGuire (VA-05). “Schools must focus on objective truth, teaching children how to think, not what to think rather than encouraging them to transition behind their parents’ backs. I am proud to vote for legislation that keeps parents informed about their child’s education and ensures taxpayer dollars do not fund divisive or misleading curriculum. These ever-changing gender gymnastics are wrong, dangerous, and only serve to confuse our children.”
The act aims to ensure that schools prioritize objective teaching methods while keeping parents informed about educational content.
Supporters of the bill say it is intended to prevent public funds from supporting curriculum they view as divisive or misleading. The broader implications may affect how educational policies address sensitive topics in classrooms moving forward.
