Beginning on May 28 and continuing through June 20, the ramp from northbound I-495 to George Washington Memorial Parkway in McLean will be closed on weeknights. The closure is part of the ongoing 495 NEXT project and will allow for paving, curb, and striping work. The scheduled closure will occur nightly from Monday to Friday between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) advises that all work is dependent on weather conditions and may be rescheduled if necessary. Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution and anticipate potential delays when traveling through this area.
During the closure, motorists traveling on northbound I-495 to GWMP should follow a detour: continue into Maryland via northbound I-495, take Exit 41 for Clara Barton Parkway, stay left for westbound Clara Barton Parkway, exit at Carderock, turn left at the stop sign followed by another left to merge back onto eastbound Clara Barton Parkway, continue onto southbound I-495 toward Virginia, and finally take Exit 43 for George Washington Memorial Parkway.
