The Radford University women’s track and field team concluded its indoor season ranked 22nd out of 43 teams in the Southeast Region, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Rating Index. This ranking follows the team’s third-place finish at the Big South Indoor Championships.
Radford finished ahead of several Virginia programs, including George Mason, James Madison, Richmond, Norfolk State, and VCU. Jeylah Hamrick led with a time of 52.92 seconds in the 400 meters, repeating as Big South champion. Her performance was the fastest among Virginia athletes in that event this season, seventh-fastest in the region, and ranked 53rd nationally.
The 4×400 meter relay team—composed of Mattie Flores, Raichelle Cornelius, Jordan Jackson, and Hamrick—posted a time of 3:40.01 to take second place at the Big South Championships. This mark was ninth-best in the Southeast Region and second-fastest among Virginia schools.
The USTFCCCA Track & Field Rating Index uses a mathematical formula to rank collegiate track and field teams based on individual performances.
Radford will open its outdoor season at the Big South vs. SoCon Challenge Meet on March 20-21 in Asheville, North Carolina.
