The Radford Men’s Golf team dropped two places to finish tied for seventh on April 27 after the second day of competition at the Big South Championship in Fripp Island, South Carolina.

The tournament’s progress is important as only the top four teams will advance to match play, making each round critical for teams hoping to continue in the championship.

Kieran McCarthy led Radford on day two by shooting even par and finishing tied for 20th place. He recorded birdies on holes 10, 1, 5, and 9 but encountered difficulties with a three-over score on hole two. Will Giaquinto also shot even par and ended the day tied for 24th overall. Giaquinto scored a birdie on hole six and an eagle on his final hole despite early bogies in the back nine.

Louie Stott finished two-over while Tate Corbett shot four-over; both made birdies on the eighteenth hole. After round one, Radford was tied for seventh out of eight teams with a combined score of +9 (287-290–557). Individual results included CJ Peterson in second place (+2), Corbett tied for fourteenth (+4), Stott tied for twenty-seventh (+5), McCarthy tied for thirty-second (+4), and Giaquinto tied for thirty-fifth (+5).

The event is being held at Ocean Creek Golf Course, which features a par-71 layout stretching over 6,546 yards. Eight teams are competing: Winthrop, Longwood, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Radford, Charleston Southern, USC Upstate, and Presbyterian.

Radford will return to play tomorrow morning in hopes of advancing to match play. Live results will be available through RadfordAthletics.com.
