Radford men’s golf season ends at Big South Championship

The Radford Men’s Golf team concluded its season on April 28 at the end of stroke play in the Big South Championship.

The event marked the final competition for Radford this year, with players finishing their rounds at Ocean Creek, a par-71 course measuring 6,546 yards. The tournament featured eight teams and a field of 47 golfers.

Kieran McCarthy led the Highlanders in the third round by shooting even par and finished tied for 17th place overall. McCarthy played consistently on the back nine with one birdie and ended four-over for the tournament. Will Giaquinto also shot even par in his final round, overcoming difficulties on holes seven and eight to finish strong on the back nine at one-under. Giaquinto completed the event five-over, placing him tied for 22nd among all competitors.

CJ Peterson matched McCarthy’s four-over total after going two-over in his last round, while Tate Corbett added two birdies to finish six-over and tied for 25th place. Louie Stott rounded out Radford’s scoring lineup by ending eight-over in a tie for 30th position.

As a team, Radford placed eighth out of eight teams with scores of 287-290-290 for a total of +13 (863). The participating schools included Winthrop, Longwood, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Charleston Southern, USC Upstate, Presbyterian College and Radford.
