Public hearing set for Bristol roundabout projects; community input invited
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public hearing this month to present plans for two proposed roundabouts in Bristol. The projects involve constructing single-lane roundabouts at the intersection of Route 11 (Lee Highway) and Euclid Avenue, as well as at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Moore Street, Oakview Avenue, and Birch Street.
The public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Virginia Middle School, located at 855 Piedmont Avenue. The event will follow an open house/drop-in format.
The planned improvements include new sidewalks and crosswalks at both intersections. Temporary detours are expected during construction to allow for safe completion of the work.
VDOT has made additional information about the meeting available online and is collecting public comments through several channels. "Comments regarding the project can be provided to VDOT until December 20, 2025, via the following methods: Call VDOT Project Manager Brandi Halloway at 276-669-6151. Email [email protected].
