Women Speak Out Virginia – 2025, a partner of SBA Pro-Life America, is launching an initiative to influence the upcoming elections in Virginia. The group plans to deploy 100 field team workers to engage with 150,000 voters in Richmond and Virginia Beach. Their goal is to support Republicans in securing a majority in the House of Delegates and oppose a potential all-trimester abortion ballot measure.

Marlene Downing, who previously served as Pennsylvania state director for SBA during the 2024 election, leads this effort. Her team had visited nearly half a million voters’ homes to help elect Republican U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick. Downing said that the field team would begin their campaign immediately: “Democrats in Richmond are determined to wipe away all limitations on abortion in Virginia, even allowing painful late-term abortions in the 7th, 8th, and 9th month of pregnancy and repealing Virginia’s parental involvement laws.”

The outreach program targets several Democrat candidates who support amending the state constitution to allow all-trimester abortion. This amendment also seeks to eliminate parental consent and health protections for women and girls while mandating taxpayer funding for abortions.

In January, Democrats passed a resolution supporting this constitutional amendment. For it to appear on the ballot, it must be approved again by the General Assembly after November’s election.

Women Speak Out Virginia has been active in past elections, including 2021 when Republicans won control of the House of Delegates and governorship. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is a network focused on ending abortion through political advocacy.
