Prince George County seeks bids for on-demand general contractors

Prince George County announced on May 1 that it is accepting bids for General Contractors – On Demand, with submissions open until Tuesday, May 12. Bids can be submitted by hand-delivery to the Finance Department at the County Administration Building, by email to cmoroh@princegeorgecountyva.gov, or through eVA. The public opening and reading of bids will take place on May 12 at 3 p.m., and vendors may join via a provided Microsoft Teams link.

The bidding process is part of ongoing efforts to support county operations and facilities. Opportunities like this are important for maintaining public infrastructure and ensuring that services are delivered efficiently.

Prince George County Public Schools District enrolled a total of 6,181 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education (source). Prince George High School reported the highest enrollment among the seven schools in the county during this period, with 1,818 students enrolled (source).

Demographic data from the same school year show that white students made up the largest ethnic group in Prince George County schools with 2,765 students (44.7% of enrollment), followed by Black students at 1,880 (30.4%) (source). The overall student population increased by about 1.2% compared to the previous year’s total of 6,106 (source).

North Elementary School enrolled both the largest number of pre-kindergarten students—46 children representing over a quarter of all pre-kindergarteners in county schools—and kindergarteners with an intake of 119 children (25.1% of all kindergartners) during the same academic year (source; source).

The solicitation for general contractor services reflects Prince George County’s ongoing commitment to supporting its educational institutions and community facilities.
