Potomac Drive in King George County set for two-day closure for pipe replacement

Route 614, also known as Potomac Drive, in King George County will be closed to through traffic between Bennion Road and Commerce Drive during the daytime on Monday, October 6, and Tuesday, October 7. The closure will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), crews will close the road to install a drainage pipe aimed at reducing flooding and standing water along this section of Potomac Drive.

The schedule for the work is as follows: On Monday, Potomac Drive will reopen at 3 p.m. with stone covering the new drainage pipe. On Tuesday, crews will again close the road during daytime hours to replace the stone with asphalt.

Residents who need access to driveways on Potomac Drive between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on either day can reach their homes by entering and exiting via the Commerce Drive intersection.

VDOT stated that “work has been scheduled to occur weather permitting.” The department advises travelers to check 511Virginia for updates about this work zone, incidents, traffic information, and live traffic cameras. Information is available by calling 511 within Virginia or using the free mobile app for Apple and Android devices.
