The City Council of Poquoson, Virginia will hold a public hearing on May 11 in the Council Chambers at 500 City Hall Avenue to gather input from citizens regarding upcoming appointments to the Poquoson School Board.

This hearing is significant because it gives residents an opportunity to share their views about who should fill two At-Large positions with terms ending June 30, 2026, and one unexpired Eastern position with a term ending June 30, 2027. The council will only consider for appointment those individuals whose names are presented during this public hearing.

According to the announcement, anyone interested in serving on the School Board must complete a Board Bank application. The application is available on the city’s website under Government/Boards and Commissions. Completed applications should be submitted to Christina Snapp, City Clerk, before 4:30 p.m. on May 11.

The public hearing itself will begin at 7:00 p.m., providing citizens with a platform to voice their opinions about candidates being considered for these roles. This process ensures that community members have direct input into decisions affecting local education governance.

Following the hearing, only those individuals named during the session will be eligible for appointment by the council.
