Weather permitting, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) plans to close a section of Route 653 (Second Branch Road) near the intersection of Route 602 (River Road) in Chesterfield County. This closure is scheduled for a pipe replacement project and will occur from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, and Wednesday, August 6.

Homeowners in the area will retain access to their properties during this operation.

Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour routes:

For northbound traffic: Travel west on Route 602 (River Road), north on Route 659 (Riverway Road), east on Route 655 (Beach Road), then south on Route 653 (Second Branch Road).

For westbound traffic: Travel north on Route 653 (Second Branch Road), west on Route 655 (Beach Road), south on Route 659 (Riverway Road), east on Route 602 (River Road), and then north again on Route 653 (Second Branch Road).
