Weather permitting, the Virginia Department of Transportation will begin work to replace a pipe on Route 219 (Federal Street) in Giles County, just north of Rich Creek. The project is scheduled to start on Saturday, August 2, with daytime work and continue during nighttime hours on Wednesday, August 6.

On August 2, flaggers will manage traffic between 8 a.m. and noon as crews prepare for the replacement. Additional flagging operations are planned for nighttime hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on August 6, August 7, and August 8.

Message boards will be set up to inform drivers about the upcoming roadwork and any possible changes in schedule due to weather conditions.

“Drivers should expect delays,” according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The department advises motorists traveling through this area to remain alert for changing traffic patterns and obey posted signs while the pipe replacement is underway.
