Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews will begin replacing a drainage pipe under Route 621 (Marlborough Point Road) at Potomac Overlook Lane in Stafford County next week.
Starting Monday, January 5, 2026, flaggers will manage alternating one-way traffic near the intersection from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day as workers install the new pipe and restore the roadway. The project is expected to be finished by Friday, January 9, weather permitting.
VDOT stated that access to Potomac Overlook Lane will remain available throughout the construction period.
According to the official website, VDOT is responsible for planning, building, and maintaining Virginia’s transportation infrastructure, which includes roads, bridges, and tunnels across the state. The agency manages one of the largest state-maintained highway systems in the country and provides services such as highway maintenance and traffic management.
VDOT’s mission centers on ensuring a safe and efficient transportation system for residents and travelers by overseeing construction projects like this pipe replacement.
