Weather permitting, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) plans to close a section of Route 651, known as Georgetown Road, for a pipe replacement project in Hanover County. The closure will occur between Route 1701 (Ivanhoe Drive) and Route 1706 (Windermere Drive). The work is scheduled from 7 a.m. on Monday, June 9, through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11.
During this period, homeowners will retain access to their properties. VDOT has provided detour routes for motorists:
For northbound traffic: “Turn right onto Route 651 (Georgetown Road), turn right to Route 643 (Rural Point Road), turn right to Route 301 (Chamberlayne Road), turn right onto Route 651 (Georgetown Road), approach end of detour at Route 1706 (Windermere Drive).”
For southbound traffic: “Turn left onto Route 651 (Georgetown Road), turn left to Route 301 (Hanover Courthouse Road), turn left to Route 643 (Rural Point Road), turn left to Route 651 (Georgetown Road), approach end of detour at Route 1701 (Ivanhoe Drive).”
