George Mason University split a softball doubleheader against Villanova on April 18, winning the second game after dropping the first at the Villanova Softball Complex.

The series began with a 6-1 loss for George Mason. Villanova opened with four runs in the first inning and maintained their lead throughout. Logan Pickford scored George Mason’s only run in the third inning after doubling and coming home on Maddie Lemasters’ single. Abbey Lane pitched four innings for George Mason, allowing five earned runs, while Alyssa Rangel finished in relief.

In the second game, George Mason rebounded with an 11-3 victory, powered by a season-high 12 hits. Senior Logan Pickford reached her career milestone of 100 hits with a single in her first at-bat and led the offense with three hits, three runs scored, and four RBIs—including a two-run homer in the seventh inning. The Patriots built an early lead with four runs in the second inning and extended it to nine by the fourth.

Bri Lencz started for George Mason and pitched nearly seven innings without giving up an earned run. Elyssa DeRosa also contributed three hits to help secure what became their highest-scoring game of the season.

The Patriots will return home to host Hampton at the George Mason Softball Complex on Tuesday, April 21.
