James Madison University’s Payton List was named the Sun Belt Conference Softball Player of the Week, according to an April 28 announcement from the league.
List’s performance contributed to James Madison’s undefeated week, which included a sweep over Georgia State and a victory against No. 23 Virginia. Her achievements were highlighted by hitting .500 with three home runs, nine runs batted in, and six runs scored during these games. She matched her career high with three hits and had two home runs in JMU’s comeback win over Virginia.
During the series against Georgia State, List collected three hits and five runs batted in while maintaining a .750 slugging percentage throughout the weekend. She also pitched for five innings with six strikeouts to earn the win in the final game of that series.
The Dukes are scheduled to play their last regular season road games against Marshall on Thursday, April 30 at 6 p.m., as they wrap up Sun Belt Conference play. The games will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
This recognition marks List’s second time earning this honor from the conference this season.
