Paving work will lead to overnight closures of the westbound Interstate 66 exit 1A ramp onto southbound Interstate 81 near the Frederick-Warren county line. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has scheduled these restrictions from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, and possibly again on Sunday, October 5.

Motorists traveling on westbound I-66 who need to reach southbound I-81 are directed to detour at exit 1B onto northbound I-81, then use the exit 302 (Middletown) interchange to access southbound I-81.

During the same hours, paving operations will also require single-lane closures on southbound I-81 between mile marker 300.3 and 299.5.

“All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.”
