The on-ramp from northbound George Washington Memorial Parkway to southbound I-495 and the slip-ramp to Georgetown Pike will be closed on July 10 and 11. The closures are scheduled from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for construction work by the 495 NEXT crews, including installing noise wall panels and trenching. Backup dates are set for July 12 and 14 in case of delays.

Motorists traveling on northbound GWMP to southbound I-495 should follow a detour via northbound I-495 toward Maryland, exiting at Clara Barton Parkway, then rejoining southbound I-495 toward Virginia.

Exits for GWMP (Exit 43) and Georgetown Pike (Exit 44) will remain open. Drivers wishing to access Georgetown Pike should use the detour and take Exit 44 from southbound I-495.

Flagging operations will occur on Live Oak Drive during this period as crews install noise wall panels. Residents may experience brief traffic queues due to alternating one-way traffic directed by flaggers between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

All work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if necessary. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and expect potential delays in the area.
