Next week, Route 360 over the Rappahannock River will be reduced to a single lane overnight as crews perform maintenance on the Downing Bridge. The affected area is between Richmond County and the Town of Tappahannock.

The Virginia Department of Transportation announced that work will begin on the evening of Monday, December 8, and continue each night through Thursday, December 11, weather permitting. There will be no overnight work scheduled for Friday or Saturday evenings. During this period, Route 360 will have only one open lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. while repairs are underway.

Crews will focus on repairing bridge deck joints during these closures.

Traffic through the work zone will be managed by automated flagging devices operated by flagging crew members. These devices can be adjusted in response to congestion or incidents occurring on the bridge.
