Eastbound lanes of the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) near the I-495 interchange in Fairfax, Virginia, will be closed overnight on Tuesday, December 9 and Wednesday, December 10. The closures are scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. each night and continue until 5 a.m. the following morning. Thursday, December 11 is set as a backup date if needed.
The closures are required for crews to relocate overhead roadway signs as part of the ongoing 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) project.
During these hours, drivers will be directed to follow a detour route that takes them onto eastbound Route 7 and then northbound Route 123. This detour will allow access to both northbound and southbound I-495 or provide an option to continue eastbound on the Dulles Toll Road.
A map provided by officials highlights the closed section of eastbound Dulles Toll Road before I-495 in orange. The detour is marked in purple, showing drivers how to reconnect with ramps leading toward Richmond/Alexandria (southbound I-495), Rockville/Baltimore (northbound I-495), or back onto the eastbound Dulles Toll Road toward Washington.
Drivers are advised to use caution and plan ahead when traveling through this area during the closure period. All scheduled work depends on weather conditions and may be rescheduled if necessary.
