Orange Market Park and Ride lot to open as Hanging Rock lot closes for improvements

The Virginia Department of Transportation announced on Mar. 24 that the Orange Market Park and Ride Lot in Roanoke County will open on Friday, March 27, while the smaller Hanging Rock Battlefield Trail at Orange Market Lot will close for construction starting Monday, March 30. The closure is expected to last until summer 2026.

The project aims to improve both parking lots near Orange Market and enhance the roundabout at Route 311/Route 419. Planned upgrades include paving, striping, and creating a designated area for the McAfee Knob shuttle stop.

During construction, commuters are encouraged to use alternative parking options such as the existing Orange Market Alternate Parking Lot across Route 311 or other park and ride locations like I-81 Exit 140 Park and Ride.
