Old Dominion University announced on Apr. 27 that its women’s tennis team will face Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, May 1, in Durham, North Carolina.

The match marks another appearance for Old Dominion, which is ranked number 60 and has secured a spot in the tournament for the seventh consecutive year. The winner of Friday’s contest will go on to play either Duke or Virginia Commonwealth University in the second round.

The Monarchs recently captured their sixth-straight conference championship, with four of those titles coming from Sun Belt Conference play. During this year’s conference tournament run, Old Dominion allowed just one point across three matches and now enters national competition with a record of 13 wins and five losses.

According to the university, Old Dominion is among only 21 teams nationwide to qualify for seven straight NCAA tournaments. This ongoing streak highlights consistent performance at both conference and national levels.

As preparations continue for Friday’s match against Tennessee, Old Dominion looks to build on its strong season results.
