Old Dominion Volleyball Head Coach Fred Chao announced on May 26 the addition of Weronika Urbanska, a transfer from Weatherford College in Texas, to the Monarchs’ 2026 recruiting class.

Urbanska joins fellow newcomers Abby MacMillan, Ashlyn Gent, Erica Duffy, Leilani Lawrence, Avery Thiessen, Emma DiRocco, and Atlyn Proctor. Chao said, “We are thrilled to add Weronika to Old Dominion Volleyball. She is a six-rotation outside hitter who brings power, skill, and size to the roster. Her international experience as well as her accomplishments here in the states will help her transition to the Sun Belt Conference. In addition, her explosive swing and tactical range will assist in making our offense more effective and efficient.”

Urbanska is an outside hitter from Warsaw, Poland. She became the first two-time NJCAA All-American for Weatherford College’s Coyotes by earning Second Team honors in both 2024 and 2025. During the most recent season she started 37 matches and recorded 418.5 points with 344 kills, 50 service aces, 20 assists, 199 digs, and 44 blocks. In the previous year she played in 39 matches where she finished third nationally with 594.5 points and was fourth with 489 kills while ranking eleventh with 70 service aces.

She was also named AVCA All-American Third Team twice consecutively and received multiple league honors including Player of the Year for her league in 2024 as well as Offensive Player of the Year for her conference in 2025. Additional accolades include First Team All-Region selection along with First Team All-Conference recognition plus two North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards during that period.

Urbanska contributed to an undefeated conference record during regular season play, which led Weatherford College to win their NJCAA Region V Tournament before finishing fourth at the NJCAA Division I national tournament in their best finish over four years of program history at a record of 34-4 for that season.
