Old Dominion University’s baseball team will play against Virginia Commonwealth University at the Ellmer Family Baseball Complex in Norfolk on April 28. The game, which is the second meeting between the two teams this season, is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start and will be streamed on ESPN+.
The matchup comes as both teams look to recover from recent series losses over the weekend. Old Dominion, currently holding a record of 21-22 overall and 9-12 in Sun Belt Conference play, dropped two out of three games at Georgia State. VCU stands at 23-20 overall and 12-9 in Atlantic 10 competition after losing their series against Richmond but securing a win in the final game.
Fans attending Tuesday’s game can park at Elkhorn Garage or Lot 43 at LR Hill Sports Complex. Entry to the stadium will be through an outfield entrance next to ODU’s Chemistry Building with temporary seating available. Amenities include a Power Alley Patio featuring food trucks and a beer garden, as well as portable toilets outside and access to restrooms inside Jim Jarrett Athletic Administration Building. General admission tickets are $10; discounted rates are available for faculty, military personnel, and children aged two to twelve.
This year also introduces free admission for Big Blue’s Kids Club members for all home games. Group outing options are available by contacting ODU Director of Ticket Sales Steven Landry or by filling out an interest form online.
The Monarchs previously defeated VCU earlier this season with a late rally that resulted in a final score of 12-10, extending their lead in the all-time series to 95-61. Key players for Old Dominion include Efrain Morales (.347 batting average), Zach Leite (53 RBIs), Tyler Zedalis (.316), Will Johnson (.314), Hunter Stallings (.306), Nick Felton (two home runs last weekend), and TJ Aiken (team leader with twelve stolen bases). Cole Lanford is expected to start on Tuesday with a record of one win and one loss.
VCU’s top hitters are Jacob Lee (.327 average) and Nick Flores (.300 average). The Rams lead their conference with an earned run average of 4.36 while holding opponents to .241 batting average against them.
After facing VCU, Old Dominion will host Arkansas State for another Sun Belt Conference series beginning Friday.
