Old Dominion University’s baseball team will travel to Atlanta for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series against the Georgia State Panthers, beginning Friday, April 24 at the GSU Baseball Complex. The games are scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. All games will be available on ESPN+ and Fox Sports Radio 1310 AM.
The matchup is significant as both teams hold identical conference records of 8-10, with Old Dominion standing at an overall record of 20-20 and Georgia State just behind at 20-21. The two teams have met a total of 36 times previously, with the all-time series tied at 18 wins each.
Last season, Old Dominion hosted Georgia State and won two out of three games. In those contests, standout performances included Ben Moore holding the Panthers to one run in five innings during game one and Dylan Brown recording eight strikeouts in game two. Kyle Edwards also contributed significantly by going three-for-four in that second game.
This year, Efrain Morales leads Old Dominion with a .344 batting average while Zach Leite is notable as the Sun Belt leader in sacrifice flies and second in RBIs per game. On the mound for ODU this weekend will be Darin Kuskie (2-6) on Friday and JJ Gatti (0-3) on Saturday; Sunday’s starter has not been named.
Georgia State enters after securing an upset win over No.7 Coastal Carolina last weekend but losing the overall series. John Beverley leads their offense with a .396 average and ranks among national leaders in stolen bases. Pitching duties will fall to Cooper Lewis (1-1), Michael Caruso (4-5), and Cole Roberts (1-2). Jake Hembree stands out nationally for his low hits allowed per nine innings.
Looking ahead, Old Dominion will continue its home-and-home series against VCU next Tuesday evening back in Norfolk.
