Old Dominion University men’s tennis announced on May 14 that Ilias Worthington will join the team for the 2026-27 season, according to head coach Dominik Mueller.
Worthington is transferring from Wichita State, which is ranked No. 69. He has two years of eligibility remaining and played primarily in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions for the Shockers this past season. He recorded a singles record of 7-16 and a doubles record of 16-10, including wins over teams such as No. 31 Arizona State, No. 46 Oklahoma State, and No. 54 Nebraska.
As a freshman at Wichita State, Worthington had an overall singles record of 18-13 and a doubles record of 14-14.
“I chose Old Dominion University because I wanted to be somewhere that feels bigger than tennis, a place where I can chase championships, build lifelong connections, and become the best version of myself every single day,” said Worthington.
Mueller said: “We are excited to add Ilias to our strong core of returners and fall signees to next year’s team. Adding the top player from a ranked team speaks for the brand and strength of our program, but his passion for our program stood out most. Ilias has proven he can win against the best teams in the country and we can’t wait to further develop his tennis.”
The addition highlights Old Dominion’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its men’s tennis roster with experienced players.
