Old Dominion University’s men’s golf team finished tied for 12th place at the Sun Belt Conference Championship, according to an April 30 announcement. The final round of stroke play was completed Thursday morning after multiple lightning delays at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi.

The Monarchs posted a team score of 13-over par 301 in the third round, bringing their three-day total to a combined score of 33-over par 897. This result placed them alongside Texas State in the standings.

Head coach Murray Rudisill said, “We were disappointed in our finish at this final tournament since we had been playing much better this spring.” Rudisill also reflected on his last year coaching the team: “Regardless of this outcome, it has been a pleasure for me to work with a wonderful group of young men during my last year of coaching, and I am very proud of them. They represented the university very well all year.”

Cullen Campbell led Old Dominion individually by tying for 36th place with a seven-over par total score across three rounds. Quin Covington and Jakub Sutor both tied for 41st at eight-over par each. Kaijun Ma finished tied for 52nd with a twelve-over total, while Joe MacPherson and James Page rounded out ODU’s lineup.

Coastal Carolina topped the team standings with a fourteen-under par score (850), followed by Arkansas State (853), Southern Miss (856), and South Alabama (863). These four teams advance to match play format in the tournament. Individually, Max Bengtsson from Coastal Carolina won at eleven-under par (205).

The conclusion of this championship marks not only the end of Old Dominion’s season but also closes out Rudisill’s tenure as head coach.
