Old Dominion University announced on May 11 that five members of its sailing team have been named to the 2025-26 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association’s All-Academic Team. The sailors recognized are Gianna Dewey, Emil Body-Goldberg, Blake Goodwin, Cadence Goodnight, and Kristin Johnson.
The ICSA All-Academic Sailing Team honors juniors and seniors who have competed as either a competitor or alternate in at least seven regattas during the season and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Dewey, from Bainbridge Island, Washington, has participated in 44 regattas at Old Dominion and took part in 14 this season. She contributed to Old Dominion finishing second out of fourteen schools at the Faye Bennett MAISA Women’s Singles event on September 13.
Body-Goldberg is a junior from Wilmette, Illinois who has competed in twenty-four regattas for Old Dominion. This fall he raced in seven events and helped secure a second place finish out of sixteen schools at the Riley Cup hosted by Old Dominion.
Goodwin is a senior skipper from Yorktown, Virginia with forty-two collegiate regatta appearances. He raced in fifteen events this season and was part of the team that finished third out of fourteen schools at The Grant hosted by ODU.
Goodnight is a senior crew member from Richmond, Virginia who has participated in nine regattas this season and forty-seven over her college career. Her top performance came on April 11 when ODU finished third at The Grant.
Johnson is a senior crew member from Woodbridge, Virginia with thirty-five career regatta appearances including eight this season. She helped lead ODU to first place at the Diamondback Women’s Fleet Race hosted by Maryland on March 7.
In addition to these individual honors, Old Dominion’s women’s sailing team received an at-large bid to compete in the 2026 Women’s Fleet Race National Championship scheduled for May 15-18 in St. Petersburg.
