Old Dominion University’s men’s tennis team will play Gardner-Webb in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, according to an April 30 announcement. The match is scheduled for Friday, May 1 at 2 p.m. at the Wake Forest Tennis Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The event marks a significant moment for Old Dominion as it continues its strong performance this season. Fans can follow live statistics and streaming coverage of the match, with tickets available for purchase online.

Old Dominion secured its fourth consecutive Sun Belt Conference Championship on April 19 by defeating Troy with a score of 4-1. Freshman Zech Hamrouni clinched the victory for the Monarchs on court five, becoming the third freshman in a row to secure the conference-winning point for Old Dominion. Several team members received Sun Belt Conference honors: Adam Majchrzak was named Player of the Year, Piet Steveker earned Newcomer of the Year, Zech Hamrouni was awarded Freshman of the Year, and Head Coach Dominik Muller received Coach of the Year recognition. The Monarchs currently hold a record of 20 wins and six losses and are riding a five-match winning streak.

Gardner-Webb enters tournament play with a record of 17-5 after capturing its second consecutive Big South Tournament title by defeating Longwood 4-2. The Runnin’ Bulldogs are also on a four-match winning streak heading into their matchup against Old Dominion.

This appearance marks Old Dominion’s fourth straight trip to the NCAA tournament. The last time Old Dominion won an NCAA Tournament match was in 2007 when it defeated Virginia Tech by a score of 4-3 in first-round play.
