The Virginia Department of Transportation has announced nighttime lane closures on southbound I-395 near the Pentagon from Sunday, August 24, through Thursday, August 28. The closures will take place each night between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m., weather permitting.
According to the department, the affected area is a bridge over two ramps located about a quarter mile past southbound Exit 8A to Pentagon South Parking, Route 27/Washington Boulevard, and South Arlington Ridge Road.
Lane closure times are scheduled as follows: one lane will be closed from 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and two lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. At least one general purpose lane in the southbound direction will remain open at all times.
These closures are part of ongoing work to close joints and make minor repairs on several bridges along I-395.
“Drivers should expect delays and are advised to use alternate routes,” stated the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The department also reminded drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians to exercise caution in active work zones by staying alert for new traffic patterns and minimizing distractions.
