Nighttime ramp closures are scheduled this week at the interchange of I-495 (Capital Beltway) and the George Washington Memorial Parkway in McLean, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The closures will take place nightly from Monday, December 1 through Friday, December 5.

The affected ramps include northbound I-495 to GWMP (Exit 43), southbound I-495 to GWMP (Exit 43), and GWMP to southbound I-495. These ramps will be closed for patching work by crews working on the 495 NEXT project. Closures are set to begin as early as 10 p.m. each night and continue until 5 a.m. the following morning.

“Drivers should follow the signed detours, and plan extra travel time,” VDOT stated in its announcement.

The department also noted that all work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled or extended if necessary. Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution and anticipate possible delays when traveling through this area.
