Contractor crews working with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) plan to open a new left-turn lane on the off-ramp from I-264 west to Ballentine Boulevard (exit 12) in Norfolk. The change is scheduled to take place as early as Saturday, August 23, and is part of the ongoing I-264 West/Ballentine Boulevard Ramp Improvements Project.

The new configuration will include one dedicated left-turn lane and two dedicated right-turn lanes onto Ballentine Boulevard. This adjustment aims to improve traffic flow at the intersection.

Before opening the new lane, crews will install a signal pole mast arm and updated traffic signals at the intersection. This work will require short, intermittent stoppages on Ballentine Boulevard and nearby I-264 west on- and off-ramps. These interruptions are expected to occur as early as Saturday, August 23, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., with police directing traffic during flagging operations.

VDOT notes that all work depends on weather conditions and scheduling, so dates may change.
