Virginia Tech announced on May 6 that Miles Heide, a 6-foot-9 forward, will join the Hokies men’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season. Heide most recently played at San Diego State, where he completed his junior year.

The addition of Heide brings experience to the Virginia Tech roster. He played in 99 games and made 40 starts during his time with San Diego State. In his most recent season, Heide started all but one game and averaged a career-high of 5.6 points per game while shooting 61.5 percent from the field. He also averaged 4.5 rebounds per game.

Heide is originally from North Bend, Washington. His notable performances include scoring a career-best 13 points in San Diego State’s win over Air Force in December of 2025 and collecting nine rebounds against Troy.

Mike Young, head coach of Virginia Tech men’s basketball, said Wednesday that he looks forward to having Heide on the team.
