Restoration News announced that Randon Sprinkle, a member of the Metro Richmond Young Democrats executive board, was arrested in December 2025 on federal charges involving the distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material following an FBI undercover operation.
According to Restoration News, Sprinkle allegedly engaged with an undercover FBI agent on an LGBT dating app in late 2025. He reportedly sent videos depicting the sexual abuse of a young child. A subsequent search of his residence revealed numerous images and videos involving toddlers. Sprinkle’s political involvement includes serving as finance chair for the Democratic Party of Virginia, treasurer for the Young Democrats, and as a delegate to the 2024 Democratic National Convention. He also had connections with prominent Democrats such as Jennifer McClellan and made donations to Abigail Spanberger and Ghazala Hashmi.
Virginia State Police data indicates that there were 3,109 offenses related to pornography and obscene material in 2024 within the state, equating to a crime rate of 35.3 per 100,000 residents. These offenses included 1,062 cases of possessing or concealing materials and 827 cases of buying or receiving them. Arrests totaled 512 individuals, comprising 478 males and 34 females.
The U.S. Sentencing Commission noted that in fiscal year 2024, there were 1,375 cases involving child pornography offenses nationwide. Of these cases, possession accounted for 45.8%, trafficking for 43.1%, and receiving for 11.1%. The average sentence was reported at 115 months imprisonment, with nearly all offenders sentenced to prison time.
The Democratic Party of Virginia was established in 1924 and is based in Richmond. It functions as the state affiliate of the national Democratic Party and has historically played a significant role in Virginia politics by electing numerous governors since its inception.
