Highway construction and maintenance work announced for the period of April 14-20, 2025, is set to impact traffic across the Lynchburg District in Virginia. Weather conditions or other unforeseen issues could potentially delay or cancel the scheduled projects.

Key locations in Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Lynchburg, Nelson, and Pittsylvania counties will see varied construction activities. These include bridge replacements and rehabilitations, surface treatments, lane reductions, and sidewalk and ramp upgrades.

For specific projects, Route 613 (Spring Grove Road) in Appomattox County will remain closed for bridge replacement until mid-April, aligning with similar district-wide initiatives. In Charlotte County, Route 40 (David Bruce Avenue) and Route 47 (Legrande Avenue) will experience sidewalk and lane closures until around April 16. Meanwhile, Cumberland County’s Route 673 (Ligontown Road) will also see bridge rehabilitation work extending until mid-May.

Additional bridge work along Route 501 (Campbell Avenue) in Lynchburg is expected to start in the week of April 14, reducing traffic to one lane while this maintenance continues until the end of April. Larger projects with later start dates and extended timelines include bridge rehabilitation over the Norfolk Southern Railroad on Route 128, commencing May 18, and estimated for completion by July 1.

Travelers are encouraged to stay updated on the latest road conditions by calling 511 or visiting the Virginia Department of Transportation website.
