Highway work is scheduled across the Lynchburg District from August 4 to August 10, 2025, with various road, lane, and structure closures planned. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) advises that these activities may be delayed or canceled due to weather or other factors. Travelers can access the most current updates by calling 511 or visiting https://511.vdot.virginia.gov.

District-wide maintenance will include bridge and guardrail repairs, brush and tree cutting, pothole and surface work, paving operations, mowing, drainage repairs, and roadside cleanup.

In Campbell County, Route 622 (Depot Road) is closed to through traffic for a culvert replacement between Route 24/501 and Route 738. This closure began on July 28 and is expected to continue until September 2025.

Halifax County’s Route 662 (Ashton Hall Road) remains closed for a culvert replacement between Route 659 (River Road) and Route 658 (Melon Road), with completion also estimated in September 2025.

Nelson County’s Route 653 (Wilson Road) bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad is closed for replacement work. Reopening is projected for November 2025.

Pittsylvania County has closed Route 932 (Sailors Creek Road) between Route 969 (Sago Road) and Route 817 (Mountain Drive) for bridge repairs as of July 28. The road is expected to reopen in late August.

In Prince Edward County, two projects are underway: Route 612 (Sandy River Rd.) is closed between Route 613 (Indian Springs Rd.) and Route 641 (Williams Rd.) for bridge repairs with a detour posted; reopening date has not been determined. Additionally, crossover construction on Route 360 (Patrick Henry Highway) west of Meherrin will require lane closures until an anticipated October 2025 completion. Drivers are urged to use caution in this area.

Other counties including Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland as well as the city of Lynchburg will see ongoing district-wide activities such as maintenance and roadside work.
