Highway work is scheduled in the Lynchburg District for the week of May 12-18, 2025. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced potential road, lane, and structure closures due to various maintenance activities. In Lynchburg City on Route 128 (Candlers Mountain Road), bridge rehabilitation over Norfolk Southern Railroad will start on May 18. Alternating lane closures are anticipated with an expected project end date of July 1, 2025.
Nelson County’s Route 653 (Wilson Road) remains closed for a bridge replacement over Norfolk Southern Railroad until November 2025.
