Lynchburg District announces roadwork schedule for June 30 – July 6

Highway work is scheduled in the Lynchburg District from June 30 to July 6, 2025. However, weather or other issues may cause delays or cancellations. Updated information can be accessed by calling 511 or visiting the Virginia Department of Transportation’s website.

District-wide activities include bridge and guardrail maintenance, tree cutting, pothole repairs, paving operations, mowing, drainage work, and roadside cleanup.

In Cumberland County, Route 673 (Ligontown Rd.) will be closed for bridge rehabilitation between Guinea Road and River Road until mid-July 2025.

In Lynchburg, Route 128 (Candlers Mountain Road) will have alternating lane closures at night due to bridge rehabilitation over the Norfolk Southern Railroad. This phase is expected to conclude by July 1, 2025.

Nelson County’s Route 653 (Wilson Road) remains closed for a bridge replacement over the Norfolk Southern Railroad with an estimated reopening in November 2025.

For Amherst County, Appomattox County, Buckingham County, Campbell County, Charlotte County, and Halifax County: district-wide activities apply without specific additional updates.
