Highway work scheduled in the Lynchburg District is set to require certain road, lane, and structure closures from May 5 to May 11, 2025. The projects include a range of maintenance activities such as bridge and guardrail maintenance, brush and limb cutting, pothole repair, and surface treatment among others.

In Cumberland County, Route 673 (Ligontown Road) is undergoing bridge rehabilitation and will be closed from Guinea Road to River Road, with completion anticipated by mid-May 2025.

In Lynchburg, rehabilitation work on Route 128 (Candlers Mountain Road) over the Norfolk Southern Railroad will commence on May 18. This will involve alternating lane closures, and the project aims to finish by July 1, 2025.

Nelson County’s Route 653 (Wilson Road) is affected by a bridge replacement project over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, and the anticipated reopening is set for November 2025.

Pittsylvania County will see several disruptions: Route 601 (Hubbard Road) is closed for geotechnical drilling, with a detour in place until May 9, 2025. Meanwhile, Route 813 (Glenview Drive) will be closed for bridge repairs between Elm Road and Strawberry Road from May 12 to June 1, while Route 311 (Harville-Saunders Parkway) is subject to new road construction, with anticipated completion by June 16, 2025.

Weather or other unforeseen issues may delay or cancel these planned works.
