Highway work in the Lynchburg District will require closures of roads, lanes, and structures from July 21 to 26. However, these plans may change due to weather or other factors. For updates, call 511 or visit the Virginia Department of Transportation website.

Crews across the district will perform various tasks including bridge and guardrail maintenance, tree trimming, pothole repairs, paving operations, mowing, drainage work, and roadside cleanup.

Specific locations with scheduled work include:

– In Campbell County, Route 622 (Depot Road) will be closed for culvert replacement from July 28 until September.

– Cumberland County’s Route 673 (Ligontown Rd.) is undergoing bridge rehabilitation and is expected to reopen by late July.

– Halifax County’s Route 662 (Ashton Hall Road) is closed for a culvert replacement until September.

– Nelson County’s Route 653 (Wilson Road) remains closed for a bridge replacement over the Norfolk Southern Railroad with an estimated reopening in November.

Other counties including Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Charlotte, Pittsylvania as well as Lynchburg City are also part of the district-wide activities mentioned above.
