Highway work in the Lynchburg District is scheduled for the week of July 28 to August 3, 2025. The planned road, lane, and structure closures may be delayed or canceled due to weather or other unforeseen issues. For current updates, individuals can call 511 or visit the Virginia Department of Transportation’s website.

Throughout the district, crews will conduct various maintenance activities including bridge and guardrail maintenance, brush cutting, pothole repairs, surface treatment operations, mowing, drainage work, and roadside cleanup.

In Campbell County, Route 622 (Depot Road) will be closed to through traffic starting July 28 for culvert replacement. This closure affects the section from Route 24/501 to Route 738 and is expected to last until September 2025.

Halifax County will see a similar closure on Route 662 (Ashton Hall Road) for culvert replacement between Route 659 (River Road) and Route 658 (Melon Road), also with an estimated completion in September 2025.

In Nelson County, the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad on Route 653 (Wilson Road) remains closed for replacement. It is anticipated to reopen by November 2025.

Other counties including Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, and Lynchburg are scheduled for district-wide activities as noted above.
