Highway work in the Lynchburg District is scheduled for March 10-16, 2025. Weather or other issues may cause delays or cancellations. For current updates, individuals can call 511 or visit the Virginia Department of Transportation’s website.

District-wide activities include bridge and guardrail maintenance, brush and tree cutting, pothole repairs, surface treatment, paving operations, mowing, drainage work, and roadside cleanup.

In Amherst County and several others including Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland counties district-wide activities are planned.

In Appomattox County on Route 613 (Spring Grove Rd.), a bridge replacement project has closed the road to through traffic between Route 647 and Route 608 from February 10 to mid-April 2025.

Halifax County’s Route 615 (Dudley Road) is also undergoing a bridge replacement with a detour in place. The estimated completion is April 2025.

Lynchburg will see lane closures on Route 128 Eastbound (Candlers Mountain Road) over Norfolk Southern Railroad due to bridge maintenance work. Closures are expected between 10 PM and 6 AM on Sunday night, March 9th, and Monday night, March 10th. Drivers are advised to use extra caution.

Nelson County’s Route 653 (Wilson Road) has a bridge replacement project underway over the Norfolk Southern Railroad with an estimated reopening in November 2025.

In Pittsylvania County on Route 311 (Harville-Saunders Parkway), new road construction continues with shoulder and lane closures expected as off-roadway work proceeds. Completion is anticipated by June 16, 2025.
