Louisiana Tech defeated the Liberty Lady Flames 10-0 on April 25 at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium. The game, which was marked by two weather delays totaling three hours and forty-seven minutes, lasted six hours and nineteen minutes from start to finish.
The Bulldogs improved their record to 25-23 overall and 11-12 in Conference USA, while the Lady Flames dropped to 23-25 overall and 15-8 in conference play. With this win, Louisiana Tech claimed the series and will attempt a sweep in the final game of the series scheduled for tomorrow.
Liberty struggled defensively with two errors during the game. Louisiana Tech took an early lead in the second inning and steadily increased it through consistent scoring across multiple innings. The turning point came in the sixth inning when four unearned runs were scored by Louisiana Tech after a Liberty error, followed by three more runs added in the seventh.
Bulldog reliever Bryannah Campos earned her sixth win of the season with four innings of two-hit relief pitching. Ruby Fidge started for Louisiana Tech, allowing only two hits over three innings. For Liberty, Abigail Findlay took her second loss of the season after allowing two runs on one hit across less than two innings pitched.
Offensively for Louisiana Tech, Gracie Flores went two-for-four with a double and three runs batted in; Allie Furr doubled as part of her two-for-three day; Aleah Brooks also had a pair of hits; Reese Torres hit a pinch-hit home run driving in two runs. For Liberty, Paige Doerr and Savannah Nash each doubled while Ella Fox and Maci Strickland singled.
Before play began, five seniors—Brynn McManus, Savannah Nash, Aubry Norris, Brooke Roberts, Savanah Whatley—were honored during a pregame ceremony recognizing their contributions to Liberty softball.
Liberty now holds an all-time record of eleven wins and two losses against Louisiana Tech since joining Conference USA prior to last season but has now lost only its second conference series out of twenty-five played since joining CUSA. The Lady Flames are currently tied with Delaware for third place in conference standings.
The final game between these teams is set for tomorrow morning at Liberty Softball Stadium.
