Louisiana Tech defeated Liberty University 9-7 on Apr. 26 at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium, completing a three-game sweep in their Conference USA softball series.
The win brings Louisiana Tech’s record to 26-23 overall and an even 12-12 in conference play, while the Lady Flames drop to 23-26 overall and 15-9 in conference games.
Liberty took an early lead, scoring four runs over the first three innings. Louisiana Tech responded with a six-run rally in the fifth inning, taking advantage of an error and timely hitting. The Bulldogs extended their lead with two more runs in the sixth before Liberty narrowed the gap to one run after Alexia Carrasquillo hit a three-run home run. Reagan Marchant added insurance for LA Tech with a solo homer in the seventh inning. Bryannah Campos then closed out the game by retiring all three batters she faced in the bottom of the seventh.
Liberty outhit Louisiana Tech eleven to seven but could not hold onto its early advantage. Both teams committed two errors during the game. Campos earned her second victory of the weekend for LA Tech, pitching four and one-third innings of relief and allowing three runs on two hits while striking out three batters. Camden Anders took the loss for Liberty after giving up five runs over four and one-third innings pitched.
Alexia Carrasquillo led Liberty offensively by going three-for-four at bat, including her team-leading eleventh home run of the season and tying her career high with four runs batted in (RBI). Reagan Marchant contributed for LA Tech by batting two-for-four with a home run and three RBI, while Gracie Flores went two-for-three with two RBI.
According to historical records provided by Liberty University Athletics, this marks only Liberty’s second loss in a Conference USA regular-season series since joining prior to the 2024 season and is their first time being swept at home since April 2015.
The Lady Flames will conclude their home schedule on Tuesday when they host Virginia at Liberty Softball Stadium.
