Loudoun County announced on April 30 that it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of its General Government Office Complex project. The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 7, at 11:00 a.m. near the intersection of Kincaid Boulevard and Adoption Drive, next to the Loudoun County Animal Shelter.

The project aims to address space needs by providing new facilities for several county departments. Phase one includes the design and construction of a 125,000-square-foot multistory office building and prepares sites for three additional future buildings.

According to the county’s announcement, “The first building will house several departments currently occupying the Loudoun County Government Center in downtown Leesburg, including the departments of Building and Development, Planning and Zoning, the Office of Mapping and Geographic Information and the Health Department’s permitting, environmental health and administrative divisions.”

The site selection places these offices adjacent to existing county services such as the animal shelter. The move is expected to consolidate operations from downtown Leesburg into a centralized location.

More information about this project and opportunities to sign up for updates are available at loudoun.gov/OfficeProjects.
