The Liberty Lady Flames women’s lacrosse team concluded its 2026 season on May 1 with a 17-3 defeat against the Jacksonville Dolphins in the ASUN Championship semifinal. The match took place at Jacksonville, with the Dolphins advancing to face Delaware in the final.
The game saw Liberty score two goals in the second quarter, including one while playing a woman up, but struggled throughout as Jacksonville maintained consistent scoring each quarter. Liberty finished its season with an overall record of 8-11 and a conference record of 5-3, while Jacksonville improved to 12-5 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
Olivia Young contributed one goal from two shots for Liberty, converting on a free-position attempt. Katie Colavito also scored from a free-position shot and added a draw control. Sophia Nesci provided an assist to Kendall Coss on another free-position opportunity and collected two ground balls during the contest. Madeleine Klunder led defensively for Liberty by securing three ground balls and causing one turnover.
Liberty had aimed to defend its previous ASUN title from 2025 but was eliminated after defeating Kennesaw State in the quarterfinals. The team will graduate twelve seniors this May as preparations begin for next year’s campaign.
In terms of individual achievements, Colavito finishes her career ranked third all-time at Liberty both in goals (131) and caused turnovers (118). Klunder concludes her tenure second all-time for caused turnovers (121) and is tied for second place in career ground balls (164). Goalkeeper Rachel Hines ended her season with eight wins, eleven losses, eight saves during this match, totaling 164 saves over the year along with an average of nearly twelve goals allowed per game.
