Liberty University will conclude its regular-season home schedule with a softball game against the University of Virginia on April 28. The matchup is set for a 5 p.m. first pitch at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The game is significant as it marks the Lady Flames’ last home appearance before the postseason, offering both teams an opportunity to improve their standings ahead of conference tournaments. Liberty currently holds a record of 23-26 and sits tied for third place in Conference USA with a 15-9 conference mark, while Virginia stands at 36-12 overall and sixth in the Atlantic Coast Conference at 13-10.

Last week, Liberty achieved its 25th win over a nationally-ranked program under head coach Dot Richardson by defeating No. 13 Virginia Tech, holding off a late rally to secure a narrow victory. However, the Lady Flames are looking to rebound after being swept by Louisiana Tech during their most recent home series.

The history between Liberty and Virginia has been competitive in recent years, with both teams splitting their season series over each of the past three years. Earlier this season, Virginia rallied from behind to defeat Liberty by one run—the only one-run loss for the Lady Flames this year out of seven such games.

Statistically, Alexia Carrasquillo leads Liberty in home runs (11) and runs batted in (42), while freshman Dani Lee maintains a .333 batting average alongside other key contributors like Ella Fox and Savannah Jessee. On the pitching side, Camden Anders has recorded eight wins in conference play with an earned run average of 2.48.

Looking ahead, both teams aim to build momentum heading into their respective conference tournaments as they close out regular-season play.
