The Liberty Lady Flames softball team will host Louisiana Tech for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 24, at Kamphuis Field in Lynchburg. The matchup comes after Liberty’s recent 10-9 victory over No. 13 Virginia Tech.

This series is significant as it features two teams with identical overall records of 23-23 but different standings in Conference USA (CUSA). The Lady Flames are tied for second place with Western Kentucky and hold the tiebreaker, while Louisiana Tech sits eighth.

Liberty enters the weekend on a winning streak, having secured back-to-back dramatic wins. In their previous game against Virginia Tech, Liberty built a substantial lead before holding off a late rally to secure the win. Earlier, they overcame a deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning against Florida International University with Dani Lee delivering a go-ahead two-run single and Camden Anders earning the save.

Louisiana Tech was projected to finish second behind Liberty in this season’s CUSA Preseason Coaches Poll. Their roster includes Reagan Marchant, named CUSA Preseason Player of the Year, and Allie Floyd as Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

Since joining CUSA, Liberty has maintained an undefeated record against Louisiana Tech at 9-0, including five wins last year—three during regular season comeback games and two more at the conference championship.

Freshman Maci Strickland was recently recognized as CUSA Freshman of the Week after batting .385 with four runs batted in across four games last week. Other key contributors include Dani Lee (.360 average), Alexia Carrasquillo (team-leading ten home runs and thirty-eight RBI), Ella Fox (thirty-two runs and nine stolen bases), Savannah Jessee (seven home runs) and Brynn McManus (seven home runs).

On pitching staff performance, Camden Anders leads with an 11-4 record and eight conference wins; Danner Allen has posted two shutouts including a no-hitter; Gabby Mike struck out seven batters for her career high earlier this month; Abigail Findlay earned Wednesday’s win over Virginia Tech.

The three-game set will be broadcast on ESPN+ throughout senior weekend.
