Liberty University’s Lady Flames softball team defeated Kennesaw State University 14-0 in a five-inning game at Bailey Park, according to a May 1 report. The victory secured the series for Liberty, which improved its record to 25-27 overall and 16-9 in conference play. Kennesaw State fell to 7-42 with its seventeenth consecutive loss.

The Lady Flames took control early, scoring two runs in the first inning before adding eleven more in the second inning. The team benefited from ten hits and two errors by the Owls during that decisive frame. “Liberty entered the second inning with a 2-0 lead before erupting for 11 runs on 10 hits in the second, also benefitting from two Owl errors in the frame,” said officials.

Seven different Liberty players recorded two hits each. Bynn McManus, Savannah Jessee, Alexia Carrasquillo and Paige Doerr each drove in two runs. Dani Lee and Savannah Jessee both hit home runs during the game.

Pitcher Abigail Findlay earned her fifth win of the season by allowing only one hit over five innings while striking out a career-high seven batters. This performance marked her first career shutout and was Liberty’s sixth shutout of the season.

The Lady Flames have now won seventeen straight games against Kennesaw State and lead their all-time series by twenty-three wins to six. Their eleven-run second inning was their highest-scoring since March of last year, while their fourteen total runs were their most since defeating Marshall last March.

The series between Liberty and Kennesaw State will conclude tomorrow at noon.
