The Liberty Flames will play the Dallas Baptist Patriots in a three-game Conference USA baseball series beginning April 17 at Horner Ballpark in Dallas, Texas.
This matchup is significant as it marks the last time Liberty and Dallas Baptist will meet as conference opponents during the regular season, with Dallas Baptist set to move to the new PAC-12 next year. Both teams are tied for third place in Conference USA with identical 11-4 records.
Liberty enters the weekend with a strong record of 26-10 overall and has won 11 of its last 12 games, including six consecutive road victories. The team recently defeated Duke University with five home runs, three of which were hit by Nick Barone, resulting in a 17-7 win. Last weekend, Liberty handed Jacksonville State its first two conference losses and secured a series win against them at Worthington Field.
Head coach Bradley LeCroy is leading Liberty through his second season and has achieved a record of 56-37 with the Flames. LeCroy earned his 100th career coaching victory earlier this year when Liberty defeated Hofstra on March 1.
Nick Barone has been an offensive leader for Liberty this season. In March, he posted a .348 batting average and was successful on all fourteen stolen base attempts that month. He continued his performance by hitting two home runs during the sweep at Western Kentucky and three more against Duke—becoming both the first Flame since 2022 and first Conference USA player since 2019 to hit three home runs in one game. Barone currently leads the team with eight home runs, holds a .313 batting average for the season, and ranks among league leaders in slugging percentage and stolen bases.
Shortstop Tanner Marsh has also contributed significantly to Liberty’s offense. Marsh leads the team with a .350 batting average along with thirty RBI and thirty-seven runs scored so far this year. Defensively, he maintains a .979 fielding percentage after committing only three errors over one hundred forty-five chances. Marsh was named to this year’s CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team alongside pitcher Ben Blair.
Looking ahead, Liberty continues its challenging road schedule aiming to maintain momentum as postseason play approaches.
